Default Dual Exhuast

Hey guys,

So I want to get a dual exauhst with a mid pipe and I was wondering what the major difference between a H and a X pipe would do? If it helps in any way, i have an 07 Mustang.

Thanks.

Welcome to MF! There are several threads about this - look in the 4.0L Drivetrain section. Personally, I have the Ford x-pipe on my duals (all Ford parts, including GT take-off mufflers). I don't think there would be much difference in sound or performance had I gone with an h-pipe. Also, the general concensus is that duals on a naturally asperated 4.0L are mainly for looks, with very little improvement in power.

** 28Hopup beat me to it **

On a V6 the difference between and H & X pipe is sound only. Ford uses an X pipe on their V6 exhaust setup, therefore most of us run with an X. However, other like the H pipe because they think it sounds a little lower, but it seems to lower your higher end torque a little. Personal preference pretty much.

ive heard a few 40s with duals and they dont sound as good as the singles with a good muffler. im building a custom single exhaust with a 3 inch glasspack midmiffler and a 5" resonated 22 inch tailpipe with 4 inch tips. im installing a left side tailpipe just for the looks of duals and ishould have it done saturday night to fire it up to hear how it sounds.

I agree, I have also heard a few 4.0s with duals and they don't sound so hot, but the Magnaflow setup I have is great, it isdeep, throaty, and it makes the ol 6er sound mean.
And I'm not saying this because it's on my car, It really does sound great.

p.s. did I mention that it was a custom midpipe setup with an X
