Default Fuel tank

My fuel tank wouldn't fill up properly, so I printed out the TSB and took my car into the dealership. They replaced the tank and it was fully covered by warranty. Afterwards they said it might have the same problem and I should replace the filler neck, but that isn't covered by warranty. Well, I got the car back and it does the same thing. Still shuts off at half a tank. Has anybody else had this problem?

I get it sometimes still on my 2006. Does it always shut off, or only sometimes for you? If it is a sometime thing, then try flipping the handle upside down - it actually works. I think it has something to do with the force with which the gas is flowing that causes it to shut down on some pumps.

I have this problem all the time. The pump wants to shut off when I've put about 2 gallons in my tank. Has anyone tried this solution:

Well...within the first 6 months of having my stang I went through this problems twice. The next time I turned the nozzle 90 degrees and filled right up. From that point forward I have not had this problem and we are talking none in a year. BTW, never took it to the dealer.

I had the same problem. The first time that I tool it in to the dealer, they swapped out the tank. Then It worked OK for a while, thenbefore long, it was back to clicking the pump off again. So I took it back. They told me that it was a problem in the filler neck. So they pulled the tank out again and gave me a new one. The told me that if they just did the filler neck that it wouldn't be covered by the warrantee, so they had to replace the whole thing again. They said that it was a problem with a vent.

That might be a good solution. Especially if a person's warranty has run out or if he didn't want to take the time to return it to the dealership. I would like to know if this really works.

My wife's '06 has that problem occasionally, it is pump pressure, we now just click the open nozzle to the slowest fill and it doesn't happen.

I just got back from a road trip with my 07 and I had this problem before, but during this trip it did it every time I filled up. We are taking it into dealer on Wed for other issues so I will have them check that too.

I had the same issue trying to fill her up today... funny thing is I never had a problem until I tried to fill her up with Shell! I like the link that was posted above - seems to make some sense...

Mine does it too sometimes. Hold back on the pressure and it fills every time. Turning the nozzle 90 or 180 degrees works too.
