Default Changing Tunes

Hey,
When I got my tunes I opted for the Brenspeed tune package.. so I got the 87 89 and 93 set.
I'm running the 93 right now, but I'm considering running the 87 because gas sucks at 3.20+ and I burn through it like none other..

So my question is what is the correct procedure for switching from a 93 tune to an 87?

Do I put the stock airbox back on with the stock tune for a few days and burn the gas and refill it with 87 (twice to clear the tank..)?

Or can I just switch out the tune and let the 93 burn through, filling up with 87 next time?

Thanks.
FM

ohh and also:

are the 87 89 and 93 tune files different, or are the shift points/power levels the same?

I guess I should try it outmyself.. I just want to know what i'll be giving up for the cheaper gas..

get a kroger card and buy it for 50 cents cheaper! lol. (thats a legit suggestion, it really is that much cheaper)youre gonna see better power with the higher octanes and better gas mileage, but with the cost of gas it balances out. there was another post not too long ago on this and some guy did the math and it turned out that it was cheaper to go with the higher octane by like 2.50 a tank. its your call.

and if you decide to change it, you can use the 93 octane with the 87 tune immediately (however you'll be wasting the power potential). you just CANNOT use 87 octane with a 93 tune. thats a no-no.

^^ thanks!

ya, Ive seen the math.. the variable is my leadfoot..lol..
and that makes the problem erroneous.. [8D]

soo IF we had a kroger I'd probly go there, but since I dunno what that is I gotta stick to shell.. (We do have Costco gas, which is cheaper.. but there's only one..)

I knew that switching up was a no no.. just didnt know about the up to down..

So are the acceleration and shift points still the same or is it like driving a different car?

+1 to the lead footing. lol. i cant help it either.

i cant really help you with the whole shift points thing (i got a 5-spd) the acceleration should be slightly less cause there will be a differnce with the timing, resulting in less HP, but it will be better than stock.

and kroger is a grocery store that some locations have a gas pump, like giant eagle, except with Kroger, you get 50cents off per gallonevery time you fill up. not just when you spend money there.
