I forgot to say, you could get a pretty penny for those rims and maybe buy some polished GT bullitts from the classifieds and break even or maybe better.

+1 to selling the rims/tires on there and getting a new set, but a CAI/tune would be the first performance mod for $600.

When I got 6'r, I literally would spend hours at a time looking at all the threads on this forum, and other forums as well. Get a real good feel for the mods that people are doing, and how they are doing them, then pick your parts and make it your own.

First mod I did, was purchase a CAI and Xcal2 tuner from VMP with accompanying tunes, and a GT takeoff muffler. YOU MUST DO THESE MODS TO OPEN UP THE BEAST. You will not regret it, I have both VMP tunes, and a Bama tune loaded into my tuner...From someone using both of them, I would undoubtedly recommend BAMA's. The VMP 91 performance tune was great, but damn, the BAMA 91 torque tune blew it away, huge difference.
For $800.00, you could get a CAI and tuner, and get dual GT takeoffs, an x pipe, and have true duals installed.

Then get a hood. I plan on getting either the Ram air hood soon, or the Cervini's.
Oh yes, and agreed with the consesus on the wheels. I don't mind the rims, they have potential to look good, but you gotta get some better tires it'll really improve the looks.

I don't really mind the rims, but those tires look ghetto. Get some more sidewall on those things.

keep telling yourself that dude. BUT, it is your car and its all about what makes the owner happy. we all realize that. these responses is just what to expect from mustang enthusiasts where we share similar views on what is right for our stangs. we all, however, still have our own tastes and preferences. good luck with the tires! wider and a bit beefier tires should really help out. make sure you get your speedo calibrated.
