Long tube header install

I'm finally getting around to getting my MAC ceramic longtube headers installed. I called the same place that did my dual exhaust and H-pipe, and they told me to bring them in just to see and that they'd give me an estimate. I will admit that they're good people and really quick with installs, but I dreaded what they were going to tell me-I've heard the install of these things getting up near $500. To my surprise, they pulled up the info on the computer and talked to a mechanic and quoted me right around $250. Does this seem about right?

I had the same thing installed for $300. Just make sure that they reconnect the 02 sensors and reposition your cats. TRUST me, you will not want to drive the car with no cats. Unlike the GT, it doesn't sound remotely good without them.

Oh I'm way ahead of you on that, I already talked to them about it. They said it was "no big deal, they'd use O2 extenders and move the cats back" so that sounded pretty convincing.

RE: Long tube header install

Hi guys, I'm getting ready to install a set of Stainless Works long tube headers and complete dual exhaust system on my 07 V6 Mustang. The system will have no cats or mufflers in the system, juststraight through pipes all the way back to the rear bumper. Ivan mentioned that one does not want to do this, one should retain the cats in the system. Please someone enlighten me on why not having cats in the system is bad. Thanks, Jack.

Simply because the car will sound like it ate 1500 tacos for lunch.

Taking the cats off is definetely something that only V8's can get away with, in my opinion. Not to mention that it's illegal in most states and you may have emissions tests every couple years, depending on the state. But other than that, it honestly sounds better with them, unless you like drone and I know some people do.
