get a tru-trac or an auburn diff for the 7.5, save the weight. 80lbs equals about 8 hp at the wheels. either of those two should be as strong or stronger than the 8.8 with a t-lok.

I agree with this. For an X-Charger equipped car, the 7.5" with something better than a t-lok that won't require eventual rebuilding (I prefer the Truetrac myself) and a girdle cover will serve you fine.

My car has been setup that way for about 18 months, and has seen some "testing" of it's capabilities, and zero issues with the 7.5"/TrueTrac combo and the X-Charger

If it was me, I'd do like Irgnation said...
Get a GT one (from a manual car,3.55 gears) from a junk yard and stick it on there, before you bail out of here.

Launching your car at the drag strip is what does the rear end in. I blew my 7.5 up at the strip launching the car on DR'S. I had 20,000 miles on the car and did alot of street racing and never had a problem before the DR'S. I know some guys who have had great luck with the 7.5 at the strip and others have not. If your questioning this i would just spend the money on a 8.8 and be done. I had 3.73's and a ford t-loc in my 7.5 and i wasted the pinion bearings. I was running 12 lb's of boost on my Vortech at the time. I had 500 bucks into my 7.5 and then had to go and spend another 900.00 on a 8.8 with 3.73's. So take it from us if your going to the track and pounding on the car get a 8.8 and if your just playing around on the street with street tires stay with the 7.5.
Just my 2 cents.
