S197 v6s are selling for less than 10k now
2005 v6 listed on craigslist today with 53k miles for $9200. Of course it's a legend lime automatic, deluxe model with no spoiler but it's only a matter of time before all the rest of them fall to this price.
Weird considering the car cost 19k three years ago. 2005 honda civics are still selling for 12-13k.
Knowing this, it's not even worth it to buy a new v6 these days. You would be shooting yourself in the foot. Better off getting a used one because these things depreciate FAST.

Civics get better gas mileage. Gas is expensive, and the economy shaky. No surprise there that they're retaining price imho
Here's a 2005Civic for you in the same range though: http://sacramento.craigslist.org/car/598101323.html
One Craig's list entry doesn't mean every v6 Mustang is selling that low. Kelley Blue Book value for an '05 V6 Mustang coupe, with normal options, in good (not excellent) shape with 50K mi is $12,010 in a private sale.

Consider traveling or flying to get one. And buy from a private party not a dealer. To make sure you dont get a poorly maintained one, ask if the owner has all records of oil changes and ask for tons of pictures. If you limit yourself to Dallas you'll probably spend 12k. Worth it to spend $200 on a plane ticket and a few hours driving back to save $3,000.

I love how you can pick and choose one single price and make a broad generalization about the state of depreciation on a model, hopefully you do not have a job where statistics are important.

you could prolly get one from a salvage yard for 800 bucks. lol.
all depends on the condition man.

I think we're living in the 60s and 70s if we're still talking about driving a car hard. You can't really drive a modern car hard. It's impossible. This is given:
-Previous owner doesn't redline it frequently
-Previous owner does all the oil changes
-Previous owner might accelerate it really hard but the only thing that could happen from that is some body damage from road debris.
But unlike the 60s and 70s cars, accelerating a carfast, shifting the gears fast and braking hard do notruin a car anymore than driving it gently does.
That's why Honda Civics with 180k thatare driven like that by teenagers still go to 300k.

sounds kinda decent considering legen lime was a one year color.....hold on to those legend limes in 20 yrs they are liable to be worth a little more than other colors.
