Short throw shift kit/new shift ****
Anyone else have issues finding a shift **** for a short throw shifter? The shifter I got fits my 2005 stock shift **** (from what I understandM12 x 1.25). The dealer managed to break off the plastic off my stock **** so I got a custom billet shift **** that claims it has the same thread. It screws on about 1mm before it stops so the thread pattern must be different. The manufacturer of these ***** only deals in 2005-2008 Mustangs so I can't see it being for an old model car. I'm wondering if my mechanic just jammed on the old shift **** to make it fit (it is plastic so I guess it could be molded to a slightly different thread). The first mistakecould bethat he does Lexus and BMW mods on my husband's cars, not normally Mustang but we've just stuck with him. But you'd think he would be careful seeing how he normally deals with higher end cars. Any ideas?

The earlier stangs had 12M x 1.75
and this all changed with the05' and up
going to 12Mx1.25. You go Ford. The
aftermarket shifter **** guys really hated
Ford for this offshore produced parts problem.
Drop the ball, anyone?

RE: Short throw shift kit/new shift ****
I have this shift **** http://www.americanmuscle.com/roush-...***-white.html
I have to admit my MGW shifter was hard to shift at times, mainly into second and changing the **** actually made the thing significantly easier to shift. I think this **** sits higher and the stock one and so I have a bit more leverage and so 1-2 is actually smooth most of the time now as opposed to clunky as hell before.
Also use anti-seize on whatever shift **** you get, or you will never be able to get it off.
