Do a search for more information, like I said, I'm no expert. I bought mine with the understanding that if I ever did that the tunes on itwould be gone. Maybe you could contact VMP and explain the situation, they could email you backups. I do know I can't extract the tunes from my tuner with the software that came with it. You can upload new tunes, and return it to emtpya certain number of times before it locks itself.

i don't know. i'm still waiting until i have to re-fuel to change tunes. one question though, how empty do i have to be in order to refuel with a higher grade octane and change tunes? in other words, if i still have say a quarter of a tank left of 87 octane gas, will it hurt my car if i fill the remaining three quarters with 93 octane and change the tune? thanks.

you can just write over one tune and not loose the other 2....not sure what you hit "enter" on though

Ohhh...Yes I guess I was reading the thread wrong.
You can only hold 3 tunes at a time, if you recieved tunes loaded into the XCal already, with no backup tunes, then yup you lost whichever one you replaced on upload. I had 3 VMP tunes, I uploaded one Bama tune into it, at the expense of losing the VMP tune. I do think it is pretty lame that we order tuners w/tunes, and they don't even load the tune files onto a cd for us to interchangeably use. I ordered a mail tune from Doug, and I have that one archived.

I wouldn't load a high octane tune, when there is still a bit of 87 in my tank. Wouldn't want any detonation to occur.

I'm curious also, was this during the pc to tuner upload, or tuner to car upload?
