the biggest difference is the weight.

your choice really depends on your future power plans. If you plan to go forced induction it is recommended to upgrade to the 8.8 but there were a few people with turbos and 400+hp and tq still using the stock rear safely. If you plan on staying n/a then I really would not switch. It just wouldn't be worth it.

The performance really just depends on your plans too. With equal gearing if you stay n/a or go f/i the 7.5 is lighter so your pulling less weight meaning you will be a little faster but with the 8.8 you will have the extra weight but be slightly sturdier. So yet again it still depends on your plans for the car.

just get a detroit tru trac or an auburn posi, and you'll save weight and end up with a stronger and more durable rearend. if you dont have FI the 8.8 will be more sluggish than a 7.5 and its suppposedly almost an 80lb difference. do one of the differentials mentioned above and save the weight. t-loks are only strong when theyre the 8.8's. alot of people have had success with them though, but if you plan on having it a looong time or racing alot, go with either the detroit or the auburn. those two are top of the line and give you the best of both worlds.
