Default 13's???

Is there anyway a 2007 v6 can run the 1/4 mile in the mid to upper 13 second range with only mild bolt-ons? Right now I have FRPP duals, Air Raid CAI, and i'm running a diablosport performance tune. Is there any other mild mods I could add to get me into the 13's? The reason for doing this is that my friend has a '67 mustang with a 289 that disses our v6's all day long and I want to show his *** who's boss lol.

Search for posts by Boss 244. He made a 13 second pass in his 4.0 Bolt on v6. To get 13s you will need a very good tune, cold air intake, exhaust, gears, T-Loc, lower control arms, aluminum driveshaft, sticky rear tires, a little bit of weight reduction, etc. Good track conditions wouldn't hurt either. 13s are definitely possible N/A with bolt ons. Unless your friend has a lot of work done to his 67 289 mustang, chances are your car is faster or just as fast as his.

Thanks a ton for the info Silver Vert 06! His 289 is completely stock and factory rated at 220hp, but that was also in the 60's so I have no clue how much real hp it has.

Intake, tune, 3.73s, t-lok, dual exhaust, nitrous (50-shot) = 13.7 @103 mph.

I'll second what the previous poster said too, as far as already being quicker than a 289.

mild bolt ons no. extreme bolt ons, yes. suspension, weight reduction, all power bolt ons, etc etc.

if you are a manual trans, you will need a new clutch, as mine was slipping pretty bad when id beat on it.

14.3 @ 93mph was my best n/a time with a slipping clutch. most ppl in that range for ET are in the 95-97mph.

You might want to consider getting a better tune. I don't know how well the canned Diablosport tune runs on a V6, but I know when I went from the Diablosport tune to a Bamachips tune on my GT it made a huge difference.

Bamachips race tune are only $50 right now.

Don't sell yourself short. Remember the 4.0 is the most powerful base model engine that they have used in the Mustang. Not to mention the 5 speed transmission. He's only got a C-4. If I remember, his rear endis only about 2.88. Also, if it's a 2 barrel, isn't his horsepower 200 instead of 220?

I believe it has a 4 barrel and yes it does have a 2.88 rear end. And oddysey, I would take it too but it's not a fastback nor is it in that good of condition.

My '66 coupe with a mild 289/auto, 600cfm Holley, duals, and 2.80:1 8" open rear ran a 15.0xx, whereas my 4.0L/5 speed just cut a 14.312. I think you'll take him (at the track of course!).
