Default Tune Advice

I'm planning to get a tuner within the next month or so (hopefully) and I think I'm going with BAMA cause of the things I've been hearing about how good they are with V6 Autos. Anyhow with the way gas prices are currently and with the possiblity of getting worse in the near future I've been thinking about the type of tunes I would more likely be interested in getting. I'm definetly gonna go with the 91 Race tune so tahts a no brainer...Check the poll and chime in. I'm not too sure how good the 87 Performance tune they offer is worth it so agian if you have any exp with it feel free to let yourself be heard... any advice is welcomeThanks in advance!

I dont see the point of a 89 tune. I recommend a 87 performance, 91 performance, 91 race. This way you can use 87 when you want to save money, 91P on long drives, and 91R for DD.

Hmm didnt think of that combo..... I was concerned about paying extra for gas but, I mean that should be the last of my worries since I'm gonna be putting down almost 400 bucks on a tuner LOL

Is the 91-93 race tune as good as what I've been hearing? I'm dying to get a tune for that very reason!

you gain some efficiency from the higher octane, so I wouldn't worry about the gas price issue. It'll be about a nickels difference (maybe less) for each octane up or so. I've gotten about 29 mpg running 87 on highways but I've heard of people getting about 33-34 with the 93. I'm not sure if it's true, but it sounds reasonable if the higher octane burns slower. Still, I have an 87 tune and cruise control for when I'm doing road trips.

And then some...

but seriously, it's the best tune from Bama, just how the car should have responded from the factory.

for some reason, i've had issues with the 93 race tune. i normally run tunes from vmp, but i purchased the race tune from doug. it doesn't seem to run right when i flash my car with it. shifts occur very close together, not what i expected.

+1......no need for 89. i went 87 perf, 91 torq, 91 race. my 87 perf is my traveling tune, 91 torq is my city dd tune and the 91 race is my fun tune.
