Default Takeoff Exhaust from Ninosport.com

I called earlier about getting a GT axleback takeoff exhaust, i read previous post that it was better to buy the exhaust of manual transmission due to the fact that it was less restricting. I also read that there part no. were different. I asked the customer service rep about this. And his reply was that it was completely false. My question is was just blowing steam up my a** or is this really true. And if so where can i buy a manual exhaust from and what is the part no.

I disagree Sancho... I don't think they are different and its just coincendence. Some have MAN some have AUT... but someone posted where they had completely different tags than either of those two.

Honestly from a manufacturing aspect, what could possibly be different from a manual to auto muffler?

Those internet ebay "new takeoff" sites say to state whether or
not you want manual or auto takeoffs when you buy them. That would
tell me manual and auto muffs are different. Also saw it on this site where
a responder showed pic with two different muffs, auto and manual.

I jsut went to http://www.newtakeoff.com/index.asp?...mp;ProdID=7856and didn't see a difference.

And also on this site there is someone who posted a picture of a take off muffler with a different tag than either the MAN or AUT mufflers as well.

My point was... what could be different between a manual and auto muffler? And if they are... why? You are only talking drivetrain...

If Ford does have two different mufflers, one for auto and one for manual, this is clear evidence they are nuts, and would suggest this sort of stupidity is a great reason why their profits are non-existant. God, I hope this isn't true.

Oddesey,
After I won the auction for GT takeoffs, when they asked for shipping
address and payment info, they said to specify if the buyer wanted
either auto or manual, if not specified, they would ship whichever they
had more of or wanted. I agree, it's stupid of Ford to have two separate
muffs for the same 4.6 motor. What's the point?

I wouldn't put it past ford to do something like that, but what I am curious about is what possible mechanical change could you make in a muffler between the two transmissions? More baffles? why? lol

*shrug*
