no need for 89 unless 87 is for some wacky reason not available where you live. stick with 87 & 91/93 tunes. those are the only ones you will end up using most likely anyways.

Then why is the C&L that much more? I don't understand! [:'(]

Well, typically I fill up on the 89 or the 93. Rarely do I use 87 considering the MPG average is usually a little lower and the miles till empty usually isn't quite right.
The C&L is a custom piece and that costs money. On a naturally aspirated car Justin's Dyno testing showed NO gain in H.P. w/ the C&Lvs the stock tube. It is a pretty piece so the decsion is more about looks than performance. You can always upgrade to it later.
Right now the 4.0 package is $479. 05-08 Mustang V6 Custom SCT X-Cal2 or X3 Flasher and VMP Intake
prove this statement. because the only way a C&l will improve HP will be on an N/A motor because it wont be able to be used on a f/i car due to relocation of the inlet.

the tube produces no more power but the larger MAF housing DOES. and that is apart of the C&L piece.

I'm not sure what statement you are asking for proof of? I refered to VMP's dyno test results for n/a cars so I assume that isn't it. While I didn't talk about f/i specifically but yes the inference was there since I stated n/a specificly. So, if that is the question then with F/I I would only assume there would be a gain in HP with the C&L. Only a theory on my part and would have to be based on a set up other than current off the shelf systems (unless the you include nitrous in the f/i category).
More regarding the f/i setup: The VMP non C&L setup provides a 3" I.D. MAF housing w/ the free flow fliter which eliminates the restriction of the stock housing & air box. The stock tube allows for enough flow to maximize the power potential of the 4.0. Their C&L setup adds the heat shield as well. VMP Dyno Sheet & Info on this setup.

well there you have it. i never said the tube did i said the MAF housingdid. the stocck TUBE is, but the stock air intake is not as good as a C&L replacement with the Bigger MAf (which comes with it).

I run VMPs 93 mileage tune and his cai all the time. The car runs great, gives good highway mileage and I ran a best of 14.83 @ 92.28 at Orlando Speedworld last nignt. I don't think you can go wrong with what ever cai and tunes you get from vmptuning.
