Magnaflow mid-mufflers w/sound
I recently changed my dual exhaust. I had dual Thrush mufflers with weeny 2.5" tips and no crosspipe. I was satisfied with the performance, but not the sound. I also do not like to see mufflers hanging below the rear bumper.
The Pypes mid-muffler system appealed to me, because all you see from the back are nice tips, and I also thought the sound would be better since there would be more pipe to resonate the sound. I couldn't bring myself to spend $500+ on that system because it's just pipes, 2 straight-through design mufflers, and 2 tips. I figured that I could build that Pypes system with other parts, cheaper--since I already had the mid pipes.
I started by purchasing two Magnaflow 3.5" tips for $70 total from a local shop. I bought two Magnaflow straight-through design glasspacks for $45 each. I cut the old Thrush mufflers off and welded the 3.5" tips on. Had an H-pipe installed, and cut the mid-pipes in front of the axle and welded the Magnaflow glasspacks into place.
The sound is very impressive! I have a clip which doesn't do it justice. There is absolutely zero drone, and it's a very smooth, powerful sound!
Here's a picture, and a link to a youtube clip. Let me know what you think!
