And for the ricey sound... the engine isn't pinging is it?
Belt too tight? The tensioner is still there, don't see how it can be too tight.
Unfortunately, without eyes on the car, no one can diagnose anything.

RE: Slight Problem...or not?
Performance wise, there really isn't anything wrong, as far as for the ricey sound and the weird burning smell.
Both are just simply annoying and I'm not sure if long term, it could be a problem.
When I get my driveshaft and gears in and take it to BBR to install, I'll see if they can figure out the problem. They can probably determine if the burning smell is radiator residue burning or engine. As for the sound, they might be a bit more difficult. Who knows.
Suppose I'll wait and see.

He paid a dealer to install it, after Dave spoke against it, because he had a stuck bolt (which is fine, not everyone wants to risk damaging their engine). Now, he doesn't know if it was even installed correctly, and his install has seemed to be plagued with problems. Which is why I suggested he take it back to the folks that put it on, and make it right. He paid them to do it. They should stand behind their work.
