Slammed: Tokico D-specs + Eibach Pro-Kit meets the Stang
Well, today I decided to slam... or lower the mustang.
I've had a set of tokico d-specs and also a set of eibach pro-kit lowering springs for my v6 laying around for a bit, and I finally found the time to throw them on.
did everything with simple hand tools, and the whole operation took me a good 4 hours from start to cleanup. the rear springs and shocks were the easiest to do, and I had the rear finished in about an hour. the front was a little more technical, and just to make sure I got things right I tried my best to take my time. now that it's all said and done, i'm sure I could have easily whipped this out in 2 hours or less (of course with the experience I now have). What really helped was having the lowering springs and new shocks - just a matter or taking off the old and swapping in with the new.
I also bought GT500 upper mounts from cjponyparts... I highly recommend that to anyone planning on lowering there car, just because when I took my right front strut off, it fell apart like nothing - and bearings are exactly something I feel like messing around with. Although I haven't heard anyone having any problems following tacobill's write-up where he re-uses the old mounts. Which reminds me... that strut thunking seems to be GONE! So glad not to have to hear that anymore! (another reason why I wanted new upper strut mounts)
here are some pics:

I HIGHLY recommend this setup!!! I love that awesome go-kart feeling I got when I first got it down on the ground and took it for a test drive - I left the shocks on full hard and the car just snags the road! I'll be playing around with settings, but its nice to see the wide range the shocks give you for everything from drifting, autocross, drag, to daily driving!

That looks pretty nice, i just put GT takeoff shocks and springs on mine. it gave it a Rake effect which i think makes it look aggressive, it wasnt what i was looking for but i grew to like it real fast. the back is an inch higher and the front is slightly lower. What a difference it makes, the 25 mph bend on my road, Before i could do 40 mph round it now i can do 50 mph, i take it easy now because someone filpped a week or 2 ago on it.
I had issues getting the shock to locate in the tower with the spring, the coil compressor didnt fit too well so i used a floor jack. i had my car on our lift so it wasnt too bad with a floor jack but wasnt exactley safe. the back ones, i dropped the rear end onto a tranny jack and they came right out.
Loved the experience but it was a lot of work...3-4 hours it took me and there was a lot of foul language in our shop lol

Mine is a bit bumpier, i notice alot more in the road but i just love gassing into turns and sticking rather than screaching.
What about you Rumbler, are you likeing the new feel or do you prefer the comfort of your old springs.
I love the new feel, my comfort is cornering fast lol.

I'm LOVING the feeling... took it out again (hence why i didn't respond quickly) and man it's definitely like a go-kart! I love how i can take normally 25mph turns at like 40mph without hesitating now!!! these springs almost perfect - not too hard or soft. everything feels more plush now that i have a new set of springs and shocks/struts (my old ones must have had 35K on them). the best thing of all is that I still clear speedbumps and dips, and i finally got rid of that annoying front right strut THUNK!!!

Good to know it may be cured via a lowering kit, which is someplace down the long list of mods (though I'm thinking either Steeda or Roush, for the 1" front drop and 1.25" rear drop). Gotta see how my new wheels & tires look first, though, which won't be on until next week...
Anyhoo - I like your drop - I don't think it's too much (but any more would be).

Yeah... personally the only reason I went with the pro-kit drop is because it didn't appear to overdue it... compared to kits like the sportline springs... I appreciate all of the opinions though - there's a reason we all buy these cars: some to modify and make their own, others to enjoy the work of art in its original state, but we both share a common love for mustangs .
Btw dljpdx... that right front strut thunk can be cured with just upper strut mounts - in fact it's really the only way to cure it (assuming you don't have warranty coverage anymore... but if you do take it in to the dealership it should be covered)
