Default Steering Stops??

Has anyone that has changed their factory 16" wheels to factory 18" polished, chrome, or black bullitts have to use steering stops as stated on Ford Racing web site.

From Ford Racing web site:

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=8977

Note: For vehicles with 16" wheels from the factory: -installing 17" x 8" wheels, use steering stop 4R3Z-3932-BA -Installing 18" x 8.5" or 18" x 9.5" wheels, use steering stop 6R3Z-3932-CA
For vehicles with 17" wheels from the factory: -installing 18" x 8.5" or 18" x 9.5" wheels, use steering stop 6R3Z-3932-CA

I am also going to put 18x8.5 OEM Polished Bullitts wrapped in 255/45-18s on my V6.
I dont see needing the steering stops as most will tell you that they are not needed
But youwill need to change the V6 caliper brackets on the front to GT caliper brackets
along with GT rotors to maintain proper clearance between the wheels spokes and the
brake caliper brackets.
You need 2 caliper brackets part #6R3Z-2B134-B, the same left and right.
The biggerGTrotors are available as take-offs or aftermarket.

The only time I miss not having them is pulling in or out of a parking spot. If you cut the wheel all the way to one side or the other it makes a nasty noise. Usually not a problem unless things are tight.
As far s the caliper brackets I just shaved them down about a 1/16" or so where they rub the back of the wheel.
I would recommend getting them both if you can.

Is this the case only with OEM factory 18 chrome, polished, or black bullitts or with any 18" wheels? If I ordered 18" deep dish bullitts whether they are chrome or black from American Muscle or Discount Tire, will I have to have any spacers or steering stops or can I just bolt them on and drive?

I did all the above steering stops and GT rotors and brackets, its worth it for the larger rotors which are cheap as a take off, buy the brackets from Ford, the steering stops are cheap, but you need to have your ride aligned after steernig stops are installed........
If you like the Ford Racing 18" Bullits and you are a V6, its worth the Brake upgrade alone, bigger wheel, bigger brake......it's all plus!
I personally like the Ford Racing over all the other Aftermarket Bullits....IMO!

It's all what youLike!!!

There's more than a nasty noise involved. On mine it took the paint on the frame rail just forward of the wheels down to bare metal because the inboard edge of the tire was rubbing there. This was after very few "noise" incidents (maybe a half dozen)

Gosh this is interesting! I had no idea!

I just ordered a pair from NinoSport for delivery to my mechanic.

Never heard of any of this until now.

Yeppers, just the OEM 18x8.5 50mm offset rims.
Aftermarket rims dont apply here. They fit just fine.
