Default oil changeT

The car is an 07 4.0 auto, it's actually my girlfriends. I have a Saturn, it's my hobby car. I've been on a Saturn forum for a few years, and done numerous work on various cars. I'm not afraid to get it there.

Anyways, I'm about to do the oil on her car. On my car, I use a different weight than factory recommended, and a filter for a Taurus, because it's bigger. I also use synthetic. I was wondering if I should stray from factory recommendations when I do her oil, and what has worked best for other people.

I use Mobil1, last time I checked it was the same price as Royal Purple. I was thinking 10w-30 shouldn't be a problem, as we're entering into summer here.

Any thoughts on a different filter than factory recommended?

Mobil 1 is probably one of the best you can get off the store shelf .You can use a 10-30 or even a 5-30 in the summer since it's synthetic. The factory filter is pretty good as are hastings, wix, k&n , amsoil and even wal mart's super tech . Don't use fram ,Even super tech is supposed to be better than fram .

Ya, I'm getting a Mobil1 filter, I just wondered if there was a bigger size to go with. How many quarts of oil does it take, anyway?

I just use the Motorcraft Syn blend oil and the Motorcraft filter as well. Not nearly as costly as the other brands like Royal Purple and is good quality stuff.
