I believe the 7.5 can handle that horsepower, but I don't know how long. It's better to be safe than sorry, so go for 8.8 rear end.

Yeah me too. I want to know if the 7.5, gears, T-lock, and suspensionis good enough for an X just used on the street.

ya if you want to build up the 7.5 with different gears and such dont waste your money. for the same amount you will pay for the trac-lock and gears then to have them installed you can buy a whole 8.8 rear axle with different gears installed. that is by far the way to go

Why not run the 7.5. IF it breaks, replace it. If not, you just saved $700-$1000. I agree about relacing gears and T-Loking the 7.5. Forget it... get the 8.8 now.

I agree with getting the 8.8. If you're gonna do it... save your time and money (as well as your conscience) and go with something you won't have to worry about breaking (at least not as EASILY as the 7.5) with the power you'll be running.

Not to plug, but... I have a takeoff 7.5 rear and a used t-lok for sale if anyone is interested (together for now)...

I was looking around at the dealership, the Bullitt on the floor came with 3.73s and a locker. It would be sweet to find one of those axles to throw in. My ideal gears for a s/c, and a locker, all installed...

Busting an axle far from home could end out costing you more than throwing an 8.8 in now. (Lots of friends busting drivelines in their trucks has taught me that more than once).
