GT brakes vs v6
#21
Are you guys are refering to the one time use bolts for the brake brackets correct? I did the conversion a couple weeks back, but I don't recall seeing any signs of loc-tite when I removed the original bolts. I just torqued mine down to factory specs. Is loc-tite recommended for the new bolts? or will I be fine as along as they're properly torqued?
The new brackets come with new yeild to torque bolts
with locktite already applied.
Once you retorqued your old bolts, they yeilded to torque
for a second time making them weak where they yeilded.
Bad news especially with brake hardware.
Those break and you are looking torn up rims at the least.
I would procure some new yeild to torque hardware from
the dealer and get those accidents waiting to happen off of there.

Yep, the new bolts should have had the blue loctite on them.
If not, you should have used some blue loctite.
Did you clean any residual loctite from the threads
before installation of the new hardware?
Get some new yeild to torque hardware and
some blue loctite and try it again.

I just bought a set of (New car takeoffs, 5 miles) GT front rotors, complete caliper assembly, brake hose, supports, and pads for $103 including shipping. Guess I'll be putting the calipers on Ebay (:
I was going to pay $70 just for pads at the local auto parts store.
