Paint for GT Take off Mufflers?
Group,
Just got my GT take off's tonight. ( Thanks Daren!) I want to paint them before they go on but I wanted to know opinions on what paint to use? POR? High temp flat black? What brand worked best for you? Still havea ways off to put them on. Don't have the Xpipe or the rest but love to plan!

I have used the Hi-Temp paints in the past, and if it's black you're after, it's flat and looks gray when cured.
With that in mind, I used shiny black caliper paint off the shelf at Kragen. Put it on a year ago, and it still looked good when I took the muffler off.
Used the same stuff on the GTAs that came with the V6 duals conversion kit from FRPP.
I was careful to clean the surfaces to be painted, first with lacquer thinner and then with alcohol. Paint has stuck good. It takes a while to cure, and smells strongly when it gets hot for a while. Eventually (with both uses) I drove half a mile at 4000+ rpm in second gear. That puts out enough heat to do the curing, and the car isn't going fast enough for the airflow to cool it before it cures.
I just painted the sides, bottom, and rear face of the muffler, in addition to the tips. I figure the black will be a better radiator surface and the unpainted silver will perhaps reflect more heat back into the hardware rather than radiating it into the body above.

Bake the paint on in the oven before installation.
This toughens it up for a scratch free installation.
