I have some concerns about getting my rear window tinted. My concerns are regarding the rear window defroster and the heated grid lines. It would seem the tint film would not be flushly adhered to the window because of these heater grid lines and would be a weak point for bubbles , fraying or becoming unattached itself. Also I wonder what long term effect it has on the tint film after a few years of the defroster being turned on. I'd really like to get mine tinted but if its going to cause problems in the future then I would not risk it. If the film became bubbled etc. and had to be removed it could also cause damage/breaks in the defroster grid.

Has anyone heard of or had any problems with tinting of rear windows with defrost grids?

I recently got mine tinted and really never thought of that. With a lifetime warranty, you shouldn't have any reason to second guess tint.

Be sure to go with a place that has been there for a while.

To get a lifetime warranty, and that new business goes bankrupt or out of business, your lifetime warranty really means nothing.

Not much help but...just don't get the cheap stuff and you'll be fine.

Thanks tmsmith. I think the lifetime warranty may just be for the tint film itself and maybe not your defrost grid.

Had tint on an IROC-Z Camaro and never had problems and my 'Stang has been tinted about 8 months now with no issues as far as bubbling or other problems around the grids.
Never used my rear defrosters so i can't answer whether the heat will melt the tint or not.

I have had tint on my rear window for 3 years now and the rear defroster used a lot in winter no problems here. I live in Ohio too

ya every car ive ever had has the windows tinted. i live in the OH so the rear def gets usedf often in the winter. never had a single problem out of the tint or the def. mine on the stang has been on for 2.5 years no problems. i had tint on my grand am for five years and never had a problem. if someone has had a problem such as that it would be the first i have ever heard of it.

no problems here eather, live in ohio, 5%tint has had no problems,had it on for about 2 months
