Default Removing Window Tint

So like a lot of S197 owners, I have vertical scratches on my drivers side and passengers side windows. I've had them for quite a while now and I figured it's time to fix them. I'm a little upset that I'm going to have to spend money to get new tint but there's nothing really I can do about it. Ford should have done something about it, realizing most mustang owners like to tint their windows (I guess they did in 2008, but it took them long enough). I had my tint installed at a time when the problem wasn't commonly known because I got my car in Sept or Oct of 2004 (one of the first S197s in my city). Anyways I called the tint shop where I've had all three of my mustangs tinted and they said it would be $85 to remove tint and put on new tint just on the two front windows. It would be $65 if there is no tint on there. I know it is only 20 bucks but any money I can save would be great and not only that, I don't think it would be that hard to remove tint. Or am I wrong? Also I asked about moleskin or felt and they said they can install it on both windows for 35 or 40 bucks including parts and labor. Not bad considering moleskin is around $20-$25. So if I remove tint myself and install new tint total would be around $100 for something that I shouldn't have to and would rather put it towards other mods. So my question is how do I remove the tint or what is the best way to remove it? Do I start with a razor, does it come off in one piece, and I know I have to use something like goo gone? I've had it on my mustang for almost four years now. SORRY this write up is so LONG.

Razor.
Start at one corner and apply glass cleaner
while slowly peeling to prevent tearing.
Lots of window cleaner to prevent scratching
from the razor blade. Lots of towels
to catch all the cleaner an glue residue.
If you are lucky, it will come off in one piece.
The adhesive used is water soluable.
Now saying that......
I would let the installers remove it
for the measly $20 they want to do it.
If you scratch your windows, you have to
pay to replace them. If the tint guys scratch
them, they have to pay for replacements.

Use a razor and lots of glass cleaner. The key thing is to take your time.

+1!

Dude honestly, I know 20 bucks is 20 bucks, but for the potential issues you're going to have, just pay the money and let a pro deal with it (especially considering the fact that you've never done it before.)

Even if everything goes perfectly (and how often does that happen with car stuff?) it's going to be extremely time-consuming to do this yourself.

Chances are the tint isn't going to come off cleanly and in one piece, which is going to cause you a nice big headache to deal with after, and it's possible like 157db said that you'll even scratch your glass or something, which will cost you a lot more than $20 to replace.

Do-it-yourself stuff can be fun, but this isn't one of those times and it simply isn't worth the hassle and potential risk to do this one yourself.
