Please Help: I need Tuner Advice and Information
I have recently added an MMR throttle body spacer and K&N CAI on my 2007, V6 Pony package. I would like to get the best performance and efficiency (mileage) i possibly can.
I drive my car everyday, year round. I drive as much as 2000 miles a week and as few as 350 per week.
i get very good gas mileage now 19/24/29 (city/combined/highway). I would like to get more!
i keep my foot out of it and only use 92 or higher octane as a rule. every 4th or 5th tank i use an octane boost or fuel injector cleaner (STP). all maintenance is done by my dealer ( i know it costs more but i trust my dealer).
MY QUESTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS: (AND PLEASE, I REALLY NEED SOME KNOWLEDGEABLE ADVICE).
Will a tuner help me get better performance and efficiency.
if so, what tuner would do the best for my set up (Diablo, SCT, other?)
is the increase in power and efficiency i may get worth the cost ($300-$400).
What can i expect with a tuner and my set up(HP/Mileage)?
Is there another option i should consider?
Thank you all who take the time to respond to these questions in advance.[sm=feedback.gif]

First, is your car auto or manual? The auto will have a nice little pickup after the tune. I have the SCT X3 and i love it. Its easy to find somewhere that has the tunes for you. Plus i like the little extra feature of datalogging on the device or hooking it up to a laptop.

My SCT Xcal2 Bama 91 performance tune increases performance nicely.
But it lowered mpg slightly compared to stock tune.
I believe my average mpg is @ 20.3 presently. 50/50 city/highway.

I'm curious - didyou see any increase in MPG with the MMRTB spacer? The general concensus is that the TB spacer shoows very little gain in performance.
I did indeed see an increase in MPG with my C&L intake and tuner (1-2 MPG, respectively). I have the SCT xcal2, loaded with 3 tunes from Evolution Performance (87, 93, and race fuel). I run the 93 in the summer, and 87 in the winter. The problem with MPG gains after a tune is that the increased performance will encourage more spirited driving on your part which will adversely affect your mileage.
Any of the reputable tuners would be a wise choice for you (Brenspeed, VMP Tuning, Bamachips, Evolution, Alternative Auto). You cold get away with using your existing intake, rather than buying a new one. Just make sure the tuner knows the CAI you are using.
