open the trunk and unscrew the bolts, then carefully pull the spoiler off. do it on a hot day or use a something to heat up the "glue" between the spoiler and the trunk....it should come off pretty easily

I don't think youll need any tape. It should just bolt on.

Yes, you need the mounting tape to make the install watertight.
The Ford dealership has the required tape. Dont overtighted the
mounting hardware as you can deform the trunklid. [&:]

Everything you need to install the new spoiler should come with the spoiler. The new spoiler shouldcome withdouble-sided tape, or at least some sort of gasket to keep water from leaking through the holes. If it wasn't shipped with something like that, maybe you can re-use the stuff fromyour oldspoiler.

The GT spoiler uses the same mounting holes as the Pony spoiler. Like was said, unscrew all four bolts under the spoiler. Then, close the trunk lid.

I would not use a heat gun, because of possible damage to the paint. This time of year, if you did this in the sun, it should be plenty warm.

Some people have used fishing line to "saw" through the tape, but I had trouble with that. I finally just kept pulling on one end of the spoiler until it popped off. Be careful about where it lands if it does pop off, because mine lifted off the trunk about a foot and scratched my trunk on impact.

Much to my dismay, the Pony spoiler left marks on the trunk paint where it was rubbing. Ford has since put out a TSB on that, and the suggested "fix" is to add double-sided tape where it rubs (wow, thanks for the help,Ford).

I picked up a GT spoiler to add to my spoiler-less car. Is there anywhere online to get a template for the holes?

(Sorry for hijacking this post)

Nope, not online. You are going to have to measure, measure, measure.
Transfer the measurments to painters tape.
Obtain gasket material from stealership and drill the 4 holes needed(yikes).
Or swap trunk lids with a Forum member who wants the spoiler delete option.
