Default Muffle and rim upgrade questions

Wife bought a 2005 V6 coupe. She wants to upgrade the muffler or go with duels.
At the same time not spead an arm and a leg. Im wanting to know if I bought a set of duel mufflers off a GT would that work ok? What all could I use off a stock GT on her V6? Im thinking just the mufflers the rest would have to be made up at the mufflr shop? She has a Automatic if it matters. If I just replaced her single muffer with a GT one would I notice much of a differance? Also i heard theres a template floating around to cut out the rear bumper on the driver side to run duels. Can anyone give me a link to it please.

Shes also wanting to buy new rims. She likes the Chrome Bullitts. Did they ever come stock on a mustang or aftermarket rims? If it was a Mustang what model did they come on?
Again if so would they fit her Mustang without any extra mods?

Thanks!

https://mustangforums.com/forum/v6-s197-general-discussion/471669-very-dissapointed-by-duals-and-gt-takeoffs.html

I went with a GT manual transmission take-off.
Be sure its a manual GT take-off not an automatic.
auto is F1-7991-l, manual F1-7849-l
It sounds 400% better than the V6 muffler. It was
$5 + S/H off of eBay for a new take-off manual F1-7849-l
GT muffler. Was the best $$ spent, ever.

You can get 18x8.5" chrome bullitts
I have the polished ones on my V6.
They run right next to the V6 brake
caliper bracket. Too close for some
mustang owners. They came on 05-08
GTs and are readily available. Expect
to pay $325-$350 for new ones and
somewhat less for take-offs if you can
find them. Polisheds run $100 each used.

If you got with the Gt muffler take-offs, you will need two extra brackets for the extra muffler. Heres the cheapest I found http://www.pypesexhaust.com/accessories.html You'll need 2 HFM60 and then some bolts and a tap to thread where they go. Very easy to do as I just finished the job myself. You can go to Rock Auto and get the mid pipe of a GT. Then just look around on ebay or somewhere else for a H pipe or X pipe. Again For a GT will work. Sound with just the 1 GT muffler was better but alot louder imo. Once I got the duals on, it was not as loud but sounded nicer and not like a little V-6. As for rims, look for some take-offs with tire aready mounted. The usually only have about 5-50 miles on them and not a bad price. I'm still looking forsome 18's in the black! As a set they tend to go for around $900-$1200. But everytime I find them they just been sold.

Oh and here is the link to the template for the drivers side cutout
https://mustangforums.com/forum/4-0l-v6-technical-discussions/298985-bumper-cut-out-template.html
I found that it didn't match perfect thought. So I tweaked it from the otherside to be the same. Then I had someone hold a straight edge against the wheel and measured form the top of the cut out to the straight edge, then made sure I had it right on the otherside. Measure 3 or 4 time before you cut. ( you can't be to carefull)

All of the above will give you a better sounding/looking car on the cheap. If you don't mind spending a little more you could get some deep dish bullitt’s and tires from American muscle for about a $1000.00 mounted, balanced, and shipped to your door for free. You could also get a nice dual exhaust setup for about $500.00, if you were inclined to go this rout. Whatever you decide I am sure it will turn out great.

Let me ask this I found someone that has 2 GT Mufflers from a Manual transmission if it matters for $50.00+ shipping. Less then 150 Miles he says. If I buy them can I myself hook up just one of the mufflers and see how it sounds. If I like it I will just keep it on if not I will add the other muffler? I havnt looked to see how the current muffler is attached.

Thanks guys I REALLY apperciate your help! I'll check the site and price tires and rims. Shes really wanting to get a set of the Chrome Bullitt rims and new tires. Is there much of a price differance between the 17" and 18"? Im hoping to find a good deal on some take offs because she canty afford new ones that for sure.

Thanks! Again!!

Yes, you can just unbolt the V6 muff, remove one bracket thats bolted to the vehicle
and replace it with a passengers side GT muffler. Less than 150 miles and it will have
to be broken in for at least 1K before the true GT take-off sound comes around.
There is not even the need to jack your stang up to do the mod.
Watch the tip to bumper cover clearance. You can put the bend to the
hanger on the GT muff to compensate for proper clearance.

There is a big price difference between 17 and 18" TIRES.
The popularity of the rim, not the size determines price in the world of take-offs.
I have the PDF file of the available OEM Ford rims from the last few years.
PM me and leave an eMail so I can send them to you.

http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/ite...=M1007T178C+01
New $339 each. Chrome is are gonna cost her an arm and a leg.

There are OEM 18x8.5" 50mm offset chrome rims available.
OEM 18x8.5" 50mm offset Chromes are hard to find in new
used take-offs. Does it HAVE to be chrome?

http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/ite...M1007S1885C+01
New $329 each. OUCH.

Here are the OEM tire sizes for the available OEM rim sizes.
215/65-16
235/55-17
235/50-18

17" take-offs with low miles will have 235/55-17 Pirellis on them.
Finding chrome ones is nearly impossable if they were even ever available.
www.mustangsunlimited.com has a wide selection of OEM wheels to browse thru.

POST FROM THE FORUM CLASSIFIEDS:

2006 Mustang GT wheels and tires:
Hey everyone , i got a set of 18" rims and tires for sale off of my '06 gt , both are in near mint condition and have low miles.....looking for best offer.....here are some pics...http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/pts/789237502.html
Thanks for looking
https://mustangforums.com/forum/s197-classifieds/473369-2006-mustang-gt-wheels-and-tires.html

Wheel and Tire Package:
These are my OEM 17 inch aluminums. There in good but not perfect shape. I've used them as my winter rims for 2 years now. There are a couple places with scuffs but nothing too visible from any distance. One scuff is worse than the rest. 2 rims are virtually untouched.
The stock Pirellis still have a good amount of tread left. I measure 3/16" on 2 and 1/4" on the other 2. They've served well and given me plenty of traction in some pretty heavy snow. This year though I installed Eibach springs and just don't think I'll do well with less clearance. I'm starting the search for a winter beater and funds from the rims are going towards it.
First $400 OBO takes them. Local only please. "Local" meaning I'll split the trip with you. 150 total miles between us. So northern IL, you too have a shot.
Save some money over new. http://ebay.com/
There are other postings with the wheels and no tires for over $300!
So....Do your part. Save a Mustang!! Buy these wheels.

S197 Polished 17" Bullitts:
Almost new (4) take-off 17" Ford Racing Bullitt wheels, 17"x8" (pm with any questions)
I don't have actual pics yet but here is the stock pic. $400 plus shipping from AZ !!
These go for $225 a piece on eBay.
thanks
