yesterday after dropping a friend off, while i was turning out of his driveway i noticed a loud sqealing. i thought nothing of it because it had rained all day so i thoguh it was the brakes. but then while driving it continued to make the noise like metal grinding on metal.
and while backing out of my driveway today the whole car was making really strange noises. i thought my tranny was about to drop right there. (luckily it didnt) i took it to the dealership to have it looked at (3rd time in 2 weeks its been there) and it wouldn't do it for them but they are keeping it overnight to figure out what it is.

any ideas on what it could be?

If it's an auto, I'm thinking the converter is checking out.
