Default problem solved with gas tank issues.

I had the problem filling my gas tank on my 2005 Mustang as many people have had, I read a tip on another forum, and thought that I would give it a try since I had to fill up this morning.

the easy fix is, turn the engine off, and turn the key on without starting the engine, and then fill the gas tank, works like a charm, I was able to run the nozzle in a normal position and at full force, next time you fuel up, give it a try.

WRONG

Thats called Key On Fueling and will put your gas guage in Anti-Slosh Mode.
This results in a Slow To Read Full event.

when that happens to me i just twist the nozzle 90 or 45 degrees and fill up slowly. Works every time.

I wasn't going by my gas guage when I was filling my tank, I going by the fuel flow from the nozzle and the read out on the pump, and full throttle, I have done the 45 and 90 degree thing with the nozzle, and it always clicked off then as well, it would always take forever to fill my tank, by turning the key on without the engine running, I was able to fill my tank within a few minutes, I then reached inside the car to turn off the ignition and take my keys out so I could go inside to pay, when I came out and started the car, the gauge did read full.

next time you fill up, give it a try, what do you have to lose?

Lucky you. I constantly have to do the 90 degree thing so I can fill the tank fully open. There was i post about cleaning out the fuel filter (i think). I'll have to find it so I can try it and see if it works.
