Default Cruise Control

In my city we have a lot of roads that are 30-40 mph for 3-6 miles (depending on the roads), with little traffic--but the speed limits are 30-40mph on them (I wish they would raise it!) If I use Cruise Control on this will it improve mpg rather than not using it? Also if I use Cruise Control on roads going that slow for a few miles is it bad for the car at all or does it somehow "wear out" the cruise control?

Thanks

I would imagine anything that keeps you from feathering the throttle would increase gas mileage.

Wearing out your cruise control? Ive never heard of that happening before.

I don't know about wearing it out, because i've never heard of that either. But I do know that cruise control disengages if you go under 35 mph so it may not be worth using on those roads since you'd have to keep reengaging it.

Mine works at 30mph... As for "wearing out" I wasnt sure if that was possible or not... And the roads are pretty straight with a constant speed.
