Default 1/8th mile...Stock times?

My friend is taking his Roush charged F150 (Putting out about 480 HP) to race at Qualcomm Stadium on friday. Its an 1/8th mile run. He wants me to go along and race too but im not shure..

What sort of numbers would i expect in an 1/8th mile.
Im automatic so do i turn off over drive off and use my 1 2 3 gears or do i keep it in drive?
the only pref. mod on my car is the GT takeoff muffler so im pretty much stock...is it worth getting some numbers or waiting till jan when i have my CAI and tune??

Whats the best way to launch off the start line...As you can tell ive never raced on a track before so any advice would be great!

Thanks guys
Chris

I'm in the same boat as you. Did you get your helmet? I got the helmet but it was to small.

I'm going to try to do a pass and then let the guy that installed the s/cer make a pass, if my helmet comes back by Tuesday

I'm looking for 13.5 w/canned tune from Vortech

I'm thinking more like high 15s for 1/4 mile, so maybe 9?

they didnt let me race...i didnt have my legal gardien there and since im 17 they said i cant.

But it was a lot of fun, my friends F150 had a 9.98 as his best race. He beat a lot of cars.

Stangpede was there, it was pretty sweet to see some of their cars. I did a few runs as a passanger in my firends truck and the burnouts were sweet. His uncle came and had a 32 Ford roadster real nice. his best time was like 8 seconds.

I borrowed my brothers Bike helmet. he has a suzuki GSX R 600 so i had no problems with that.

depending on the track until you get into the 8's you should not need a helmet but, it is a good idea. at the track i go to , since i have an aftermarket power adder i now have to wear a jacket

yes take off the overdrive and the traction control. i myself stall to about 1700 but i have an X and pretty much any higher i spin. go around the water box if you can and just do a small burnout if you can to clean the tires . not a smokey one as the street tire are not the right compound and actually get slipper. if you are running drag radials smoke up up. pull up to the light TAKE YOUR TIME!! doing this and actually stage to the rear of the beam this should help with our reaction time. i leave on the third amber. my best time at the 1/8 is 8.95.
don't sweat the age thing actually take this time to hang out and ask the guys questions. you wil be surprised how helpful the people will be if you show a sincere interest in learning. have fun and be safe.

The Q is not the best track. It's not a track it's a parking lot. I bet if he took the truck to Barona he would run mid to low 9s. Sea level corrected those would be high 8s since Barona's DA is about 4000'

I would guess high 9's low 10's if you are running without a intake and tune. Try to go and race, once you do it, you'll be hooked!
