Default GT Brakes

Would they directly replace the V6 ones? Calipers, rotors, ect..

If not what do I need?

You need the GT rotors and the GT brake caliper brackets, and a new set of pads more than likely.

You can find the rotors and brackets on newtakeoff.com I believe.

They do make a difference

Would those brackets be with the brakes off of my friends car? Or would I have to buy them in order to put them on mine?

If you are buying them off your friends car you only need the rotor and the bracket for the caliper. The bracket is bigger than on the V6 so that the caliper can clear the bigger rotor. Very easy swap, and I have a thread on it with pictures from a couple of months back.

When I can find how to get into my photobucket account again (hard drive crashed on my computer) I will post some pictures if someone doesn't beat me to them.

Here is a comparison of the bracket:

and where it goes on the assembly to help "see" it

All you need to replace is this bracket and the rotor. Everything else is the same.

You need 2 caliper brackets part #6R3Z-2B134-B, the same left and right.

And two GT sized Rotors either OEM ($39.99 newtakeoff) or aftermarket.

Also, the rear brakes are the same on both the GT and the V6

I understand the parts needed, but is this really worth it? I imagine the GT guys would eventually be ditching the rotors for Powerslots or some other upgrade. So wouldn't we be better off going that route plus the brackets? Sure the takeoffs are cheaper, but I'd hate to spend $40 for the rotors only to decide a bit down the road I should've just went with aftermarket rotors. Guess I'm looking for more critical feedback about how much of an improvement these larger rotors make. I doubt it's night and day, is it 10% better 60-0, 100-0???

I am also toying with what rotors and
pads to get to go with my newly
aquired GT Brake Caliper Brackets.
I dont see Power Slots to be any better
than the OEM rotors. The old organic
pads of yesteryear would 'gas' under
pressure and high heat. The drilled rotors
were designed to relieve the built up
'gasses'. Nowdays, slots and drilled holes
are more for looks than function.
But then there are these carbon fiber
rotors that ARE drilled.
As for how much better the 12.5" GT rotors
are over the 11" V6 rotors, its a simple lever
situation. Do the math and see the results.
3/4" out farther on the lever and the added
mass of the bigger dont hurt the cooling ability none.
But aftermarket 12.5" rotors versus the 12.5"
OEM GT rotor, I dont see that much difference.
