I competed for sound quality though, so it was all about removing any ground noise. Just ignore more.. it will work fine for you
That is cool you competed in audio comps. I've always wanted to do that someday when I get a lot of extra cashola. What car audio brands are you partial to?

Keep in mind this was back in 93-95, but I used to have Sony Mobile ES, Kicker, Orion. I had a Sony Mobile ES head unit, along with Mobile ES component, and one year was Orion Cobalt amps/subs, another year was Mobile ES gold Amps and Kicker Subs.

I spent years doing it, and I took First place in the 0-150 watt category and got best in show for sound quality, that night I went home ripped it all out and have never had a system since

Whed a thunk it Oddysey...

I went all JL speakers and Rockford Fosgate amps in a 92 Blazer.
Six RF 250m2s in mono 4 ohm mode for the six 12" W6 JL woofers.
3000 honest watts backed up by 2 250A alternators and
6 Optima Yellow tops mounted upside down on the
inside roof for increased sheet metal mass there.
It could bounce quarters 12" into the air off the roof....
Had to sand bag the roof to kill the vibrations and
increase the inside SPLs for competition.
All the glass besides the windshield had
to be laminated with 3/4" LEXAN to avoid brakage.
Thats the 157dB I am referencing to...

The head unit had to be operated from a stand
outside of the vehicle for it to function properly.
Boy, those were the days....
