Default what size are the threads on the shift ****?

i messed up the threads on my shift ****, and i need to use a die to re-thread it so i can put the stock shift **** back on. im having difficulty finind the right size die to use though. it looks like its 5/8'' but ive had no luck finding that size in a hardware store. and everything below that is too small.

The threads on the stock shaft? Sorry, I just checked my metric tap and die set, I don't have anything big enough for that. But, I bought it at Sears, check there. They got lots of cool tools.

ill check there. ive checked home depot and true value, and the biggest ones they carry dont fit. im addicted to changing my shift **** all the time, and yeah, i ruined the threads on the shaft by tightening a crappy auto zone brand shifter to it >.<

Maybe this isn't what you are looking for but...Here's a quote from the MGW site....
Shifter is available with your choice of shift **** shaft, one with the OEM 12 MM threads and one with 3/8-16 standard threads for most retro aftermarket plastic shift *****.
I'm guessing it's 12mm threads
