It is sealed so you shouldn't have to add fluid. But you should flush and replace the tranny fluid every 30K i believe. kind of expensive, but cheaper than a new tranny

i change it every year with the anti freeze and fuel filter. i used redline for the 1st year. i drained the factory crap the 2d day i had the car. this time i used RP for oil, trans & rear. for the trans you only need to buy 3 qts (2.75 is used). so for $20-$30 it's a no brainer.

Mustangman, I'm a Mustang noob, what are you saying here that TREMEC recommends just plain ole dino oil for the tranny over synthetic?

Also, I couldn't wait for my supplier to ship the Redline D4 ATF(recommended for my 5-speed) so I just used the Royal Purple Synchromax. I'm glad I had that article I linked to in order to perform the job, it went smooth as silk, but I'da been in a bind if I had not read that link and used the 3 foot of 3/8" tubing to reach from inside the car, through the floorboard, and all the way to the fill hole. Wow, gotta love the internet.

I guess the Royal Purple is good stuff......eh?

if i remember correctly, tremec (the supplyer of manual trannys) recomends merc III in their trannys rather then merc V (syn) (im lookin for the article)

I also used RP Synchromax soon after I bought my '07 because the tranny noise was really irritating. The noise is still there, but slightly mellower, and the shifts are smoother.

Also, a good tip: the square hole in the drain plug is exactly the same size as the male end on a 3/8' socket wrench. Just insert a socket handle directly into the drain plug.
