Default $1,700 for paint and install?!?!?

I got an estimate from 2 body shops today...

1) said mustangs very poorly built and will never work on one (needless to say i left p/oed)
2) Quoted me $1,700 for labor and paint to install a rear bumper and front bumper and and upper and lower grille...

This is a lot of money for me, for anyone really, and i was wondering if it is a decent quote?

WOW. Thats terrible. First off, install it yourself, this isnt a difficult job by any means. As for getting it painted, shop around. You should be able to get them both paint for a total of $700-$800 (probably even lower).

When i ordered my 3D carbon BR spoiler, i brought it to the shop and it cost me $375 just for paint and that was HIGH. Dont spend more than $800 to get them painted and if you REALLY dont want to install it i would say no more than $1000-$1200 TOTAL

BTW, my uncle owns a body shop and he told me it should only be about $500-$650 to paint the two bumpers, just to let you know.

Find a different body shop. My body shop painted my GT takeoff front bumper for $200 and my rear bumper for $185. He cut me a pretty good deal, normally he would charge about $250 per bumper. I painted my rocker panels myself and installed all of the parts myself in my garage. Bring the panels to the shop and install them yourself. It isn't very difficult and it saves money because the body shop won't have to remove or mask anything and then reinstall it on the car. Any more than $300 per bumper is pretty high.

mustangs are not hard to work with and I think it is time to ask another shop and get prices for the labor and paint for the bumpers to get painted and then install yourself. I just did my front bumper cover and clear turn signals and I must say I cant believe I waited this long to install as it was easy as pie. Just need the simple tools and another person to help and a couple of hours. The grill was easy too and all of mine are aftermarket. JMO
