Default Getting a T-Lok ... a few questions

If i wanted to install a T-Lok without new gears would i have to do anything else to the car as well? I know if i get gears i need a tuner but if i buy a T-Lok do i need anything else to go along with it?

I read that i ned to buy new bearings or something? Not sure. Also, i installed my own N2O kit throttle body and what other minimal mods i have (excluding exhaust) so would this be something i could install myself or would i definately have to bring it in to get done.

bering kit is when you do gears as well....

you CAN NOT run a 75 shot WITHOUT a tune unless you have a stock pile of extra motors, even with most CAIs on the s197s your supposed to retune.

also, for even bolt ons, and especially with the nitrous i would say forget about the tlok and get an eaton LSD or a detroit true trac, my car is on its 3rd FRPP diff, i WILL be going with a DTT next time.

BTW a TB spacer does nothing, you can turn it in for scrap metal

my vote goes for 4.10s and a detroit true trac, if you really want to install JUST the LSD, its not as hard as doing the gears and you can do yourself if you take your time.

you actually can run a 75shot on stock timing, 100 shot -2 degrees, 125 shot -4 degrees.

now you cant do that on 87 octane, ud need 91/93 octane.

Yea, thats why i never got a tuner. I always thought as long as i stuck with the 75 shot then i would be OK.

Actually you're probably thinking of the GT kit there. The V6 calls for: -0 on 55, -2 on 75 & -4 on the 100 (no 125 in the V6 kit).
I'm not disagreeing with you just pointing out the book specs.
I have run the 75 shot & 93 octane on my 87 performance tune w/o trouble. I also have one step colder plugs so I felt that was some added insurance. Never read the plugs or dynoed it but from what I could tell there wasn't any detonation or ill effects. I do believe that a N2O specific tune is the better option though.

Well, i just ordered an xcal with an 87 perf, 93 perf and 93 torque....my question is what one do i use in certain instances?

I assume 87 perf as daily driver? What one would i use for when im at the drag?

w/o the nitrous the 93 perf will probably net the best et's. BAMA also makes a race tune you can get. The torque tune is supposed to be a lot of fun around town, not much top end perf with it IIRC.
the safest and most performance will come from a N2O specific tune. The 87 perf w/ 93 octane should be OK. I also ran the 93 perf tune one night on the 75 shot using the tuner to reduce the timing and richen up the fuel. But without data logging your experimenting in the dark.
