GT Grill Conversions - Grill Only

GT Grill Conversions - Grill Only
For those that have done the "grill only conversion" as in one of the Street Scenes or Ebay kits...did the wiring harness from the Pony Package lights hook up?
I see most of the turn-key kits come with a switch setup. Is that for folks without any wiring?
Here is what I am looking for. GT setup for V6 bumper with wide fog light placement with central running pony. Is there such a critter out there? Any links would be appreciated.
Also, to justify my purchase...does the Pony grill setup have any resale value to follks with plain jane fronts? What is the typical trice on those? I have not seen many for sale here and find that a bit odd.

I hear you can use the same wiring harness that comes with the PP.. I thought about doing center fogs myself buttt I ran out of money! and for the running pony its just attaches to your grille so you can put it where you please, I think I saw it on v6mustang stuff for like 20 bucks with the backing and screws and such.. o and I'm sure you can get at least $100 out of the PP grille

Illin, i have seen PP grilles sold in the classifieds here (i frequently vist) anywhere from 100-175 plus shipping so yea. I want to do the exact same thing your talking about without having to get the GT front bumper but i have no idea if you can...

here we go illin, i got the answer for you....
The reason it comes with switch set-up and harness is for the people with V6 mustangs that dont have the pony package like us.
As for our current harnesses for our PP fog lights... they have adapters on the ends of them to fit the smaller bulbs. All you need to do is remove the adapters and the remaining part will fit right into the GT fogs! Save the adapters though...
Last but not least, the "critter" your looking for is a rare one. I searched and searched and the only one i found that had GT fogs, fit the V6 bumper, had the running pony in the middle, and had the same distance between the fog lights as the GT is this here...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...AQ:MOTORS:1123
It's expensive but maybe you can contact hm and just get the grille/fogs and not get the harness and switch since we dont need it. Maybe even just get the grille and get some take-off GT fogs for like 30-40 bucks.
Hope i helped

Illin,
If you are not interested in the street scene grill I have
for sale above, then this is the only source I know of,
and believe me I checked thoroughly in the past, for a
stock style V6-GT fog grill (honeycomb like stock w/pony
emblem)
http://www.abcexclusive.com/mustangs_home.htm
scroll down close to the bottom - item # GR500 GT-V6/P)
The other one mentioned above in this thread is for a
cutdown GT grill. Fits well but you will still have the overhang
present on the bottom lip.
Don't know much about the abcexclusive grill but price is
$289.00 shipped. That's including fogs, you provide the pony
emblem from your old grill. Hope all this helps

Awesome...thanks Bob.
Let me think on it a day or two. I guess it is silly to drop $3-4 bills on something that is totally cosmetic...who knows.
BTW, is the pony in our "coral" the same pony I need...or is the coralled pony anothe rpart number. Ie, if I went with the GR500 GT-V6/P...can I use the pony from inside my coral?
I guess the diff between the GR500 GT-V6 and GR500 GT-V6/P is that one can use the pony and one does not?? The website is kind of vague.
Thanks!

Illin,
Yeah, the difference is the mounting boss area (an outlined flat pocket surface the
plastic chrome pony fits into. My V6 stock grill's pony is exactly the same as a GT,
not sure about the PP emblem. In any event, it's next to impossible to remove the
metal jam nuts from the plastic pegs without snapping them off. If your pp emblem
is the same size, a couple strips of 3M emblem tape should do the trick holding it
to the grill. Surface prep/temp is important for good adhesion. Replacement emblems
on ebay all the time $25 going price. Just make sure its for a S197. Of course, it
would be too easy for Detroit/Ford to make a common part for several models!! Another
reason they're going broke.
Good luck, hope this helps some.
