Default A few questions for you guys

I've got a few different questions for you guys!

-Winter is here (though its staying pretty warm compared to normal temps from previous years at this time!!) and my car seems a bit louder than usual...is this normal from the cold? Or is it probably something else?

-Are there different brands of brake pads? If so what kind should I get, also how much are stock ones from the factory? I suspect I will be needing some within the next 3 months.

-This one is probably debatable but I have a very bad problem...lead foot. I usually floor it to 65-70mph 1-5 times a day (just depends). Is this going to kill my car fast (is it going to cause lots of engine problems etc.)? I'm trying to work on curing it and I have got a little better...but when you go from driving a 4banger Mazda 626 that does 0-60 in like 15 its hard not too!

-And lastly did anyone else see that dang Lotus Elise go for only $21,300 on eBay?! AH! I Love that car...someone got a steal

Could be your engine running a bit colder at time, like the sound of the exhaust you get from a cold start. Don't really know what that one, or maybe your exhaust just broke in.

Brake pads are really inexpensive, Hawk is an aftermarket vendor for our cars in Brake pads, OEM replacement should not be that expensive at all.

This might seem like coincidence but my previous car before I got my Mustang was an '02 Mazda 626. I can understand why you have the lead foot, but do not take the slowness of the 626 out on your 'stang.
How many miles does your stang have? Also, I suggest you switch to a synthetic oil if you are putting more pressure on the engine.
At first I had the lead foot, but gas prices was my saviour. Even tho gas prices went down, I try and resist the urge of releasing the beast.
I hope at LEAST you are flooring it when the car has a complete chance to warm up or that will build up some damage fast.

Lucky bastards!
Hope that helps!

As long as the car is well-maintained and the engine's warmed-up before you push it, there's nothing "wrong" with driving it fast - it's a Mustang... it was DESIGNED for fast driving!

I never floor it when its cold. I did that on my old Mazda 626 (before I knew the consequences) and that car fell apart (literally... Tranny, 2 Thermostats, it always overheats, and many more problems)

I think if you floor it when its cold (and correct me if I'm wrong) it will be too much of a sudden change in temperature in an engine. A good example would be when you take an icecube and grab it with your hands they sometimes make a cracking noise. Well the cracking noise is caused by the sudden change of temperatures. The same thing happens to the engine I would imagine. I always wait for it to heat up, but then once its warm its floored.....

There has been cases where the cylinder heads have cracked from the sudden change of temperature. Basically, just don't do it.

You can also blow a head gasket if you get on it with the engine dead cold . At least wait a couple miles before you full throttle it. My v6 manual also sounds a bit louder on cold days and more responsive.
