Default What would you do?

...So I recently was in a fairly rough car accident which caused $5,000 worth of damages. I slid on ice and a big chevy truck hit me going about 45mph when I was at a stop. The insurance company is going to have them fix it and this is where my question comes in....

I really love my V6 stang. I have put some money into it (mods listed below sig), now obviously not too much modding going on but I had plans to drop a good deal of money into my car before the accident. Now I am thinking, A) should I bag it and sell the car while I can still get some money for it since it is a 07, with 16k miles and upgrade to a 08 GT (since prices are good)? OR B) run the car to the grave and put more money into it as I was planning. I am asking this because with my car fairly new I might get some money out of it but as I wait longer no one will want to buy an older car with a big crash on the résumé.

What would you guys do?

personally I would keep the six and fix it up as you planed for two reasons the insurance will be higher and gas (its low now but do you think it will stay their)

Dude I can totally see where you're coming from.

I am facing a similar dilemma. I have (sort of) my father's backing on the option of buying a new 08 gt for around 18K... but I love my v6 to death too.

I'm am trying to convince myself that if I can afford another 5K difference (bought my car for 13K used a year ago), then i most definitely can afford to have a supercharged v6. In the end I'll still make GT power (and possibly some change) while still having the agility, mileage, and balance of a v6 mustang. Plus the insurance doesn't HAVE to know... although it's probably safer that they do know in the end...

On the other hand... I DIG that v8 roar. And most of my parts are transferable to that GT...

Difficult decisions indeed.

I think that if at any time you have the oppertunity to upgrade to a GT, I'd upgrade to a GT.

I would probably upgrade since you havent done too many mods to your 6 yet.

GT... since you would have to spend $3000+ on your "damaged" 6 to get to the same performance level of GT... and the GT will be worth more than a 6.. especially one with an accident on record.

Yea, I'd take the chance to upgrade to the GT, especially if insurance is not an issue. You can make a sick 6, but why not get the GT and start fresh (especially if you only have basic mods for the 6). You also said u were thinking of keeping the six and running it to the ground, which seems like you mean to keep a mustang for a long time, then definatly go for the GT as parts are better (7.5 vs 8.8 ect) and more plentiful, plus its a v8. Im sure either way you choose youll be happy though, but Id take the chace to step up while you got it. Opportunities like this dont happen all that often...

If those are your only two options, trade it in for a GT. Personally, I'd hang on to it and trade for the new body style that is coming very soon.
