300 HP V6 Challenge, advice needed please!

You're right. I just happened to look at the receipt yesterday and saw that it was 3k for the non intercooled. I guess I was just thinking of the 1800 dollars my women gave me towards it. I must be getting Alzheimers stage 1. Let's make that s/c 3k +install 725= $3725. If I had to do it all over again seeing how cheap nitrous is...well.....I still would go the same route. Power on tap for good.

Oh man, I'm really leaning towards nitrous. I just have a couple of questions.
How long will the bottle from the zex kit last me?
Do I need a tune if I just run the 75 shot?
Any chance of blowing up my engine?

From a fellow nitrous owner...
1. The bottle the kit comes with will last you about 7-9 Full quarter mile passes. Costs me 50 bucks to get the tank filled.
2. Do you need a tune for the 75 shot, no. I an my 75 shot multiple times before getting a tune but got one later on and it really increased performance from it. Just the 75 shot is fine without a tune bu i suggest only using it at the track.
3. Will you blow your engine up? no, not with a tune. However, without a tune it is more likely even though still very rare to happen. If you are going to run the 75 shot with no tune (means you havent pulled any timing) then i dont suggest making more than 3 quarter mile passes a night. With our plastic intake manifolds it may not be able to handle it after a long time.
Like i said, i ran the 75 shot with no tune for about two months. Went through about 4 tanks and made about 3 passes a night when i went to the track and i was fine. I had no problem. However, without a window switch, your odds of engine damage quadruple. Its worth every penny, trust me.
hope that helps

i would just waite till you find a deal on an SC. i bought my SC for 2k. had 300 miles on it. sold the diablo sport that came with it ( had my sct which my tuner prefers), sold my intake. ended up paying about 1800 for the whole sc kit.

those are really nice numbers. sound similar to the powerhouse kit. im sure dave ( fazm) will chime in about that kit. if i had the money thats the rout i would have gone but i got such a great deal on my vortech i couldnt pass it up. you make alot more horsepower per lb of boost with a turbo.

almost spot on.
8.8psi on a super safe tune was 345rwhp 405rwtq
9spi on a safe tune (but higher octane) was 371rwhp and 402rwtq
12psi on a safe tune is 410rwhp and 459rwtq
12psi on an unsafe tune with open exhaust was 454rwhp 515rwtq
14psi on as safe as a 14psi tune can get was 450rwhp and 515rwtq (exhaust on, but no mufflers)
and turbov6mustang, get use to blowing up t5s
