Default Pass Time

I was watching "Pass Time" the Speed Channels game show last night, and there was a S197 V6 on it, pulled a miserable 16.23, in the 1/4. The contestants even predicted an 18 second pass time, and were joking while asking about the car, like "so what upholstering does it have" and "don't you want something faster?"..... no respect....

Reminds me of the Vortech article in MMFF a few years back, where they installed the base kit with no intercooler and no tune and got 260 to the wheels. Didn't do any justace to what the 4.0 is capable of. I wish I could say this surprises me. What bull ****. They could have at least put some bolt ons in the V6 and let it run 14's. Bastages!

It's a TV game show with a built-in prejudice against base-model powertrains just like you'd expect from any magazine with "Muscle" as part of its title. The cars are really just props - you don't ever hear much of anything useful about them. Think "The Price Is Right" with ET's instead of $$.¢¢ .

14.9 94 stock times are capable with the V6 and some good tires.

sounds like a pretty slow quarter time. I'd like to see that car with just a premium fuel tune do that run again...and with a better driver please

16.23 ? Hmmm.... It must have been a crappy driver who was half asleep with a delayed reaction time or an engine with a disconnected plug wire

This is why I quit reading magazines like MM&FF. I mean, basically every month there's a picture of some bloke's SN95 / S197 GT /5.0 Foxbody on the front cover, with a stupid story and pictures about how he procharged / vortech'd / nitrous / Roushcharged / Saleen Supercharged his ride. Followed by his low 11 second timeslip for the quarter mile and topped off with few pictures of a hairy middle-aged woman clad in a small bikini degrading herself in front of his chrome 20 inch rims. And with all the money that these people put in their cars, they don't even bother upgrading the brakes / suspension (apart from things like springs).

No offense to GT owners, but I'm tired of seeing the same stuff every month.

Now I read Modified Mag, and I like it.
