Default Top speed Tire rating ?

Can anyone tell me there top speed for there stock V6 stang ? I would assume that it would have a tune though as you would have to unlock the speed governor and that is usually included in the tune package. Anyways Include your tune and mods in your post . Your trans , rear end ratio , spoilers if you have one , and If its lowered .
A Question I have is if its the gearing , hp/Rpm range , or just wind resistance vs torque that stops the speed from climbing .
I am trying to determine a correct speed rating for the tires and don't want to buy some then get a tune and realize I should of got a faster speed rating on the tires

Yes, driveshaft.
What year model V6 do you have?

Profile to the left of the post says an 05 Mustang. The stock driveshaft will at some point catastrophically fail at somewhere near 115+ mph. If you look closely at your driveshaft you will notice that the ends are pressed in without clips. The driveshaft is heavy and poorly balanced. As the speed increases the ends will begin working out and eventually become undone and the driveshaft will fail, take out your transmission tunnel, transmission and probably part of your interior.

Yes, the 05s had pressed in cups and will destroy itself over a certain speed.
Its not a pretty sight. The fuel tank straddles the driveshaft and it normally
results in a ruptured fuel tank. The 06-09s went to clips that hold the
bearing caps in the yoke. What was Ford thinking.

so a aluminum drive shaft mod fixes the exploding drive shaft problem . Or is there a cheaper way to fix it . Also makes me want to put a drive line loop or 2 in also. Thanks for the heads up on that . I have a front wheel drive car that dose 122 mph with 165 hp. so I figure the mustang will beat that easy. but the mustang drag coefficient is larger than than my sport compact.

So lets start again . With the drive shaft fixed . any one know of a good top speed calculator on-line . First hand experience anyone . Please chime in.

A stock 4.0 stang with a cold air intake and tune combo will probably hit upper 130s or maybe 140. Its hard to say though. I haven't even had my car over 85-90 mph since I bought it and don't plan to go any faster.

Get some z rated tires and be done with it, they are rated for 150mph. Get an aluminum drivehaft with safety loops too. The stock BFG tires and driveshaft are the weak points. You can get rid of the top speed limiter with a tuner. I hope you don't plan on maxing your car out on public streets, though. Definitely not a good idea.

I was thinking of showing up at the Texas Mile event . Its more of a 200 mph club but no rules about what you drive. A one mile drag strip is more my style .

I have an 06 PP , when it was stock i used to hit the 115 mph mark with no problem ( it only vibrated a little bit when i was decelerating from 115 ) and i think with the governor OFF and stock it could go up to 125-135 max... about the tires the will hold more speed than what the 4.0 can give them ( if you have Pirelli PZero ) ...

now with 8.8 rear end, 3.73 gears and stock driveshaft once it hit 100 MPH it starts vibrating... they says only the 05 is the one that the driveshaft comes apart but because i did gears too, the driveshaft has to go at higher RPM now... so i won't pass 110 mph until i get an aluminum driveshaft even thought the governor is OFF...
