catalytic and muffler bypass
Give me some feedback on this mod I would like to do.
I want to put on a GT takeoff rear bumper on . But without duels I will have an extra cutout . I had a brainstorm . If I put a dump on before the catalytic converter and ran the dump all the way out the back where the extra cutout is . Will this give me any advantage at the track ? |
Interesting idea, but can't work with the stock cats; they are way too close to the exhaust manifold, unless you do some extensive piping. Bypassing the cat converter wont buy you much time, if any.
Instead, put a dual setup under there and leave the cats in place. They aren't that restrictive until you start getting into F/I setups. And doing a dual setup will gain you a few hp and be easier than what you are thinking. |
hmmmmmm did not think about that. Maybe I could move the catalytic converter back an couple of inches. Just enough to fit the Y in.
Or I could only bypass the muffler by putting a Y right before the muffler run it over to the cutout and just cap it off like an old school dump. that would be cheaper than a duel setup but it would still have the catalytic converter restriction . |
Why don't you just put straight pipes in and be done with it. I don't see what you are trying to do besides break the law of emissions.
O I have straight pipes on the vette hehehe. |
