Default Changing current rearend to Tloc vs GT takeoff

What are the cost differences between changing my current rearend to a tloc or suing a GT takeoff. I would have to have the work done by someone else either way. Anyone have a basic idea of the cost for either way?

buy a detroit true trac for the 7.5, ive blown up 2 Frpp diffs on a 100% stock car, and will be cheaper then an 8.8 as well as stronger and lighter then an 8.8

Shipping seems to be the killer on take off rears depends on what you could get the 8.8 for. I find great prices on them but too far to pick up.

Ok I'm assuming you also want gears?

8.8 Rear Takeoff w/ 3.73s - $879(call in for best price, I paid $770)

Shipping - $130 Truck Freight to GA(should be similar for NC)

Installation - 2-3 hours(I'm getting mine installed for $135-195)

A little over 1k

vs.

FRPP T-lock - $200

3.73 Gears for 7.5 - $270

Installation - $250?

A little of $700

8.8 is stronger, only 40 lbs. heavier, and can withstand anything you throw at it.

3.31 I believe
Mustangman02232- How is the V6 rearend stronger than the GT's? Don't our rearends give out at anything around 400hp?

Yeah I don't see how just adding a Detroit TT will make it stronger than an 8.8...

And yes our gears are 3.31, so if you decide on 8.8 or T-lock make sure you go ahead and change the gears out also. 3.73 seems to be the most popular, you could go 3.55s or 4.10s if you wanted though.

Well, that way you have to buy two new tires.

I have a Tlock and have put it though the ringer, I am not much more than stock, just exhaust with headers. I have ran it at the track, not with the tlock yet, but might as well been. Its still going strong. The Tlock is cheaper, but not by much espically if you dont do it yourself. I did mine myself so I saved 200 dollars more, I think it cost me completely done 240. The 8.8 plus shipping would have cost right at 6 or something from Newtakeoff plus proably 130 shipping so 730. I would have done the work myself also that is with stock gears

I'd definetly go with the 8.8. Especially if you plan on any type of forced induction. I'm holding off on getting one until I have enough for that and the suspension I want.
