Default Problem with C&L Intake

Everything was going fine until I had to connect my new air filter on to the MAF housing. It didn't fit. My dad and I tried absolutely everything. The damn rubber part of the intake that wraps around the MAF housing DOES NOT FIT AROUND IT. I'm extremely mad because it took about 11 or 12 days to get to my house...I didn't get to try to install it until like 4 days later. Is there a trick or did Bamachips screw the hell up?

no, not the blue silicone coupling. i think he's saying that the actual cone filter will not fit on the end of the intake assembly. first off, measure the inner diameter of the cone filter's flange where it connects. the diameter should be 4.0". if not, then you got sent the wrong filter. if it is 4.0" or pretty close to it, try greasing the outside edge of the MAF housing section where the filter is supposed to connect. also try turning the filter in a clockwise motion as you force the filter on. good luck.

My filter/maf/intake tube on my X was a pain to get on too, took me quite a while. They are supposed to be tight as hell, but doable. Maybe you got the wrong filter.

I'm pretty sure I got the wrong filter. Don't you think 4.0" would be too big...than it would just slide on. Anyways, the inner is about 3.4". AHHHH WTHH

nope, 4.0" is not too big. that is the measurement. try measuring the C&L MAF housing section outer edge where the filter attaches and see for yourself. it should be approx 4 inches. sounds like bama sent you the wrong filter. sorry dude. call him ASAP so he can get the right one sent out to you right away. don't stress too much on this goof up. modding is never perfect.

Ya, they're right. 4" is correct for MAF housing OD and filter ID. It was snug, not loose, and not too tight on mine.
