with the harelip at the bottom they look like crap due o the overhang. but thrifty people have to try i guess. notice i didn't say cheap. do what you must but its a shame how some destroy cars. i mean really this is so 2005. back when i got my car we had no options but now there are like 6 or more choices. and 157 shame on you for encouraging them i expected better from you!

have fun guys

afixer,
Wow, I expected more from you. I hope you
are not seriious. Sure, there are choices now
as opposed to even a year ago. What happened
to individuality and creativity. I don't think most
everyone who owns a S197 is trying to do a hack
job on their cars, some maybe, but fabrication
and modification and creativity started and continue
to be a foundation for modding, rodding or whatever
else you want to call individualizing your car.
Or else, if you can, you can just write a check and
there is nothing wrong with that either if you have
the extra cash. It's all about choices. No?
Cheers,
Bob
By the way, cheapa$$ means the same as fixed
income, retired, old fart or maybe even practical.

no robert im prety much serios sorry.

i mean back when i got my car 4 years ago yesterday. we didn't have crap and a lot of people were pissed because ford made the opening smaller on our 6. lots of people did crazy things from drilling holes in the v6 grill and using rubber grommets to install lights they got at walmart. hey actually look halfway good other than he fact that YOU COULD NOT ADJUST THEM!

and yes the old gt grill fit. from people greasing the edges to cram it in to the guys that would actually install them for the dealers and cut the bumper cover behind the grill so it would relax enough to fit. the problem is that like any stressed plastic after time the cuts will tear. i mean they would not even drill relief holes so that the cut would not run. then you have the lower lip that at a glance yea some might not catch but due to the raised lip on the v6 bumper it is there.

cutting your hood to install a hood scoop that's a mod. back in the old days to flare a fender buy using a baseball bat and rolling it forward has a mod. Making a unique grill for your car that's a mod. cutting up a used grill cutting your bumper and cramming something in, to look like something else when there are plenty of alternatives out there that's not a mod its a shame.

as for the cost of the ones that fit. yea i was lucky enough to meet up with the owner of street scene and they used my car for not 1 but 5 of there grills. heck i even helped design the wire harness for them. and let me tell you. they are not cheap to make. i know that the MBA will chime in that they are over priced but he has no clue as to the cost for tooling or that the material shrinks as it cools so the tooling is actually a bit larger and they had to do numerous grills before they settled on the one they sell to get it right.
that plus the R&D (research and development) all has to be amortized into the price. sorry but it does and they make a good product and it sells.

i have been around for a long time and i just hate to see this type of thing still happening. and yes its your car and by all means do what you must. this is just my opinion and i am still allowed that i think.

Fair enough. I'm an old street rodder/racer myself, built many
cars; street rods, cobra replicas, chopped Mercs, worked with
lead, plastic, aluminum, built chassis, motors, ah, you know the
rest. Hack jobs I've seen, and some made me gasp for breath,
others I had sympathy for.
Paint combos beyond the natural prism and actually hurt the eyeballs.
Motor swaps not only fuggly, but dangerous, as well. Beauty is in the
eye of the beholder. I may think a car is ugly, but I bet the owner likes
it.
Hey, I've always enjoyed your posts and suggestions. That kinda took me
by surprise. Actually, 157db's post does work, just maybe not for you.
You are exactly right, everyone to his/her own opinion or suggestion is

Drive on,

Wiring up actors??? What kind of wires
did you put on ol' GW Bush. He's disappeared
since leaving office. Was that your doing??
Saw on the news tonight lights falling from the
skies in Texas. Said it was a meteor but I bet
it was ol' GW Bush exploding from those wires. AH HA!!
Car guys are all ****. We all have a$$holes! I change
parts and I have used 5 different grills on my 6er in'
two years, one a Street Scene GT. Finally went with
a GT cover and grill. Street Scene was a nice piece.
Bought it on ebay, still have it. May try to adapt a
honeycomb backing from a 6er grill to fit the frame
for a small project.Oh, and my wiring harness is a
Street Scene as well. Good job on it's simplicity of
design and function.
Bob

See the pics below of what I did to get one to fit...
Cut the bumper cover in the corners but I did use a stop hole.

Sore wounds for sure. My bumper is cut and I still didnt get the GT grill to fit.
I cut the GT grill that the eBay seller who sent me those instructions above
(see the IF YOU MUST disclaimer) into 20 pieces and sent it back to him
minus the fog lights.

"Its just a piece of plastic, why does it cost hundreds of dollars...."

Speaking of GT grilles and such, would the Saleen front fascia and grille fit the V6?
I'm about to order it.

Yes, with a few extra items like the GT impact absorber and the
Lower GT Radiator Air Deflector and the GT inner fender wells
and such.
