I know that this system is incomplete and will need at least: a tune, a lil modification to attach it to our TB, the m90 unit itself, and a way to modify the hood for clearance, but for around half the price of the X-Charger is this a viable alternative? i understand that this unit is supposed to put out around 5-6 psi with the original pulley so all that comes to mind is the cost to performance ratio..
$4000+ for a complete 6-7 psi system with piece of mind & looks
OR
$1600 for the manifold/adapter
$50-300 for the blower
$100-200 for cold air piping and filter
$150 for a hood scoop (to solve clearance issue)
$200-400 for a custom tune
= $2000-$2500 for a 5-6 psi(pulley variable) system that will have at least decent looks and "custom" satisfaction
You are basically getting the same thing for half the price, and i know what you guys are yelling at the screen but I'm not sure if eye candy or a good reputation is worth 2 grand...

What do you guys think? i apologize if this is a re-post, i just wanted to throw this out there...

i would not even touch it IMO unless you have the ability and resources to make it work...

I'll take the solid support, great design, good looks and outstanding reputation over a clunky looking homebrew setup with a very old blower and unknown seller any day of the week...

Some like chocolate -
Some like vanilla.

Some are willing to pay more to buy from a reputable company -
Some will look for a cheaper alternative.

It's your money to spend...

This system has been out there for a few years now and its good to see he has continued to develop and refine it. If you have more time than money (including time you can be without your car) this looks like a reasonable option. Adapting our throttle body shouldn't be too much trouble and I would think an Explorer tune should get you close, but more money would still be needed to get you to a proper tune. Last, I'm not sure a hood scoop is the solution. It might need to be too big and could look stupid but I'm only speculating. If so than an aftermarket hood might also be needed adding more to the total project cost.
