Default Muffler hanger problems

Well I was driving home and heard a clanking noise I checked my left muffler and the metal hanger of the muffler has rusted of. My question is can it be possible to weld it back on the muffler. Thanks eeveryone.

Yeah, that is an easy fix. Very common on the GTAs (if that is what you have). I see those threads int he S197 forum all the time. $20 at a muffler shop should have you on your way. Or a 12 pack of beer to any buddy with even a stick welder.

i just painted my muffs (flat aluminum) last week and put them back on last night. one of my hangers is pretty rusted but it was the extra hanger that the muff shop welded on for better alignment. the JBA hangers are in real good shape. ended up stripping the hole threading where the hanger bracket mounts to the chassis so had to go buy some bigger bolts.

basically, be careful not the over tighten the hanger bolts or you may strip out the holes whenever you're removing/installing muffs.

Yep the driver side hangar rusted off on mine recently too. Went back to my muffler shop and they fixed it for me, no charge.
