Unhappy MUSTANG TRANSFORMATION HAS HIT SERIOUS SNAG! GEARS!

So everything was going peachy w/the install of parts on the Stang till the gear install. Seems my Motive 3.73s whine like crazy and my friend after two days of trying to fix it sent it to his friend who works with gears for a living and he too could not get the whine out! After all that he recommended I buy a whole other set of gears from Ford or Richmond. According to him all Motive gears he has worked w/has had problems and very few ever have gone on w/little to no whine. I am so bummed cause it doesnt seem my car will be ready for my return home. The guy says he can get it done but i would have to pay him all over for another install with a completely different set of gears and I really dont have the time or money to do that all over again. Man I knew my gears would end up being an issue.

Motives don't whine when a good gear installer does them. I wouldn't bother with the Richmonds, I would go with the Ford gears. Problem with gear whine is once you have it, its next to impossible to get rid of unless you replace them.

thats a drag man. Sorry to hear that. Did you replace the rearend? If not maybe you should consider replacing it with an 8.8 and gears installed. A little pricey but heard that its worth it.

You know from being on the forums and seeing how VASTLY different everyone's opinions of gear brands are and how varied the stories are on installs it would seem that I would of just went with the 8.8 rearend upgrade to be safe, but no i didn't and now I suffer (I am now sobbing in the corner playing my finger violin). Anyways I am not sure what I am going to do but whatever it is I better come up with something.

i have motive 3.73 gears and it sounds stock...i guess i got a good install...no whine here....
if i could do it over again, i would probably go to the 8.8 rear with the 3.73 already installed...hope you get it sorted out

Glad to know I can rest easy...

You can run the gears with the whine for awhile until you cab afford to redo them.
Unfortunately and probably, you'll have whine with other gears if they aren't installed exactly right.
But when I did my gears last time, I went with FRPPs because I knew the install would be flawless and not whine.

every vehicle ive had regeared has had motives with no problems, the back lash is usually slightly looser then stock, if the guy knows what he is doing and takes his time there shouldnt be any problems

richmond gears are straight cut, and will whine slightly regardless of install.
